The short answer
We install full-room wallpaper in Boca Raton homes and condos, handling measuring, wall prep, primer and pattern layout. The material you choose and the condition of your walls drive how long the job takes and how it holds up in our humid climate.
Papering full rooms in Boca Raton means working with a wide range of homes: compact villas and townhouses, sprawling single-family houses in gated communities, older ranch homes with plaster over block, and high-rise condos where the service elevator has to be booked in advance. Creative Wallpaper Installer is based in Pompano Beach, roughly six miles south, and we hang traditional, nonwoven, vinyl and specialty wallcoverings in homes across Palm Beach County's southern edge. Below is how we approach a whole-room project here, from the first walkthrough to the last trimmed edge.
Starting with a walkthrough
Before anyone orders a roll, we visit the room. We note ceiling height, the number of doors and windows, built-ins, crown molding and anything that complicates trimming, such as a sloped ceiling in a bonus room. We ask what you want the room to feel like, and we look at the samples you are considering in your actual light. A pattern that seems quiet in a showroom can feel busy in a small guest room with one window.
From those measurements we calculate rolls with the pattern repeat in mind. A large drop match uses noticeably more paper than a random-match texture, and underordering leads to a second batch from a different dye lot, which can show a color shift.
Wallcovering types we hang
Each material asks for its own paste, tools and handling. We work with all of the common categories and will recommend which suits each room.
- Nonwoven papers that are pasted on the wall and strip off cleanly later
- Traditional pulp papers that need booking time before hanging
- Solid vinyl and vinyl-coated papers for kitchens, laundry rooms and kids' rooms
- Grasscloth, cork, silk and other natural or specialty surfaces
- Commercial-weight vinyl for high-traffic halls
- Printed murals and large-scale panels
Getting walls ready in South Florida houses
The wall underneath matters as much as the paper. In concrete-block homes, plaster can be uneven or have fine cracks from settling; we fill and sand those and check that there is no moisture coming through an exterior wall. Drywall in newer homes is easier, but glossy or semi-gloss paint needs to be dulled and primed so adhesive grips. Walls with old paper get stripped first rather than covered over.
Every wall then gets a wallcovering primer. It seals the surface, gives the paste something to hold, and makes future removal far easier. In a region where the air conditioner runs most of the year and summer humidity is heavy, a sealed wall also helps the paper dry at a steady rate instead of shrinking at the seams.
Layout decisions you will notice later
Where the first strip goes affects the whole room. We plan so the pattern is centered on the main focal wall, such as a fireplace or a bed wall, and so the unavoidable mismatch, where the last strip meets the first, falls in a corner behind a door or in another low-visibility spot. We also check that horizontal motifs sit at a pleasing height relative to chair rails and ceilings.
Large-scale prints need extra thought in rooms with many interruptions. A bold medallion cut in half by a window header looks accidental, so we sometimes shift the starting line a few inches to keep key motifs whole above doors and around the main window. In open-plan Boca Raton homes where a papered wall continues into a hallway or dining nook, we also plan how the pattern turns the corner so it reads as one continuous surface rather than two separate jobs.
Ceiling lines are another detail. Many homes have ceilings that rise or dip slightly across a long wall, and a strong horizontal stripe makes that obvious. We set the pattern from a level line and adjust trimming so the eye follows the design, not the ceiling.
Protecting your home during the work
Floors are covered with drop cloths, furniture is moved to the room's center or out entirely, and switch plates and vent covers come off and go back on. Water and paste are kept off hardwood, marble and carpet. At the end of each day we clean up scraps and leave the room usable. For condos, we follow building rules on noise, elevator pads and trash disposal.
